Millions for wife of murdered judge

The wife of a Fulton County judge gunned-down in an Atlanta courthouse 3 years ago will get over $5-million dollars. The $5.2 million dollars to be paid to Claudia Barnes will settle one of several suits against Fulton County and sheriff Myron Freeman. Judge Rowland Barnes was one of four people killed in the shootings in March 2005. Brian Nichols is the accused gunman. Jury selection is underway for a trial that has been delayed several times.

Family, friends mark shooting annniversary

Officials, friends and family gathered today inside the Fulton County Courthouse complex to mark the third anniversary of the shooting rampage that left four people dead. Relatives and colleagues of the three people who were killed at the courthouse on March 11, 2005, dedicated a memorial garden being built in their honor. Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes, court reporter Julie Ann Brandau and Sheriff's Deputy Hoyt Teasley died at the courthouse. Federal agent David Wilhelm was killed later in Buckhead. Brian Nichols is set to stand trial for those murders July 10th.
