A former district attorney in northeast Georgia has been sentenced to six years in prison for his role in a payroll theft scheme. Tim Madison was chief prosecutor in Banks, Barrow, and Jackson counties for 24 years. He was indicted last August, and later pleaded guilty to felony theft, violation of oath of office, making false statements, and conspiracy. State prosecutors also have charges pending against Madison’s wife and former assistant DA. Along with his prison sentence, Madison received six years probation, and ordered to pay 40-thousand dollars in restitution.
