Another Bluffton University baseball player died today in Atlanta from injuries he sustained in a bus crash last week.
A spokeswoman for Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta says 18 year old Zach Arend died this morning. He was one of several players hospitals after last week’s crash. 6 other people died when the bus took an exit ramp on the left side of the road and plunged from the overpass onto the highway below. One witness on the bus said right before the crash he heard the bus driver’s wife screaming something like this is not the exit. Federal officials are investigating why the driver took the ramp at full speed. They re-enacted the accident using a tour bus equipped with cameras. Nine-one-one tapes released from the bus crash yesterday mention bodies lying in the road and gas leaking from the bus. The car pool exit lane from on interstate 75 South remains open.
