A giant egg farm won’t be moving into Madison County, north of Athens. Last night County Commissioners rejected a request to re-zone nearly 200 acres for the Country Charms Eggs facility. The company needed the re-zoning to build a dozen chicken houses that would hold 1-and-a-half million hens. Opponents said the so-called farm would have been more like a factory.
