The proposed tax-cut for Georgia retirees was passed by the Senate yesterday, but it was not well received in the House. Speaker Glenn Richardson said tax policy should start in the House, and that the plan may be done for this session, which has only three days left. Governor Sonny Perdue made this measure a key part of his re-election campaign. It would wipe-out state taxes on all retirement income by the year 2013.
