Money that Governor Sonny Perdue was seeking for two state programs has been restored by a Senate committee. Budget writers in the Senate Appropriations Committee gave Perdue nearly all the money he wanted for land conservation grants—45 of the 50 million dollars requested. The Governor also got all 19-million dollars he wanted for his “Go Fish” program, designed to attract bass fishing tournaments to Georgia.
The cash is part of the 20.2 billion dollar state budget plan approved Monday. The 2008 budget plan now goes to the full Senate for approval.
