Georgia sports for Thursday, June 14th

The Braves suffered another loss on the road at Minnesota, falling to the Twins last night 6-nothing. The Braves have now lost 8 of their past 11 games.

Atlanta starting pitcher Chuck James had a rough outing, as he allowed 6 runs on 9 hits--3 of them home runs. The Braves at the plate were handcuffed by the pitching work of Twins' starter Carlos Silva: he threw a complete game in scattering 8 hits. Chipper Jones made a successful return from the disabled list, getting 3 hits in the role of designated hitter.

The series finale is tonight, as Tim Hudson will take the mound in Minnesota. Despite the Braves' recent problems, they remain only 2 games out of 1st in the NL-East division. The Mets lead the Braves and now the Phillies by that 2-game margin.
