Georgia sports for Tuesday, July 17th

It was rough going for the Braves last night in the opener of their series against the Reds, suffering a 10-3 loss at Turner Field.

Starting pitcher Kyle Davies never made it out of the 1st inning, as he never recorded an out before getting the hook from manager Bobby Cox. Davies only faced 5 batters, as he allowed 2 hits, 2 runs, and walked 3. It was the long night for the Braves bullpen—-Oscar Villareal gave up a 3-run homer to Ken Griffey-Jr in the 2nd inning.

The Braves had their 4-game winning streak snapped, but they remain a game-and-a-half behind the Mets for first in the NL-East. The Mets lost their game at San Diego last night.
