Georgia has a new state Senator. Republican Senator Bill Jackson of Appling took his oath of office today at the state Capitol. Jackson was elected June 19th to replace former State Senator Jim Whitehead, who stepped down to run for U.S. Congress. Jackson will represent Columbia, Glascock, Lincoln McDuffie, and Wilkes counties, as well as parts of Elbert and Warren counties.
