Capital One Financial, which recently decided to close down their NY-based GreenPoint Mortgage operation, will keep their Columbus facility open.
The decision will keep about 230 workers on-board at the local call-center.
"People that have loans with us, that need to ask questions about their loans, need additional details and information about what they need to do, that's what this unit's all about," a Capital One spokesperson said.
The move is expected to pinkslip some 1,900 employees at other locations.
Capital One, in a statement released Tuesday, said GreenPoint, which operated in 31 locations in 19 states, will close its doors, "effective immediately."
