Forsyth County waits to limit occupancy levels

Commissioners in Forsyth County appear ready to table a proposal that would limit the number of people who can live in the same house. In the meantime, the head of that Commission says he resents outsiders trying to paint Forsyth as an unfriendly county.

Charles Laughinghouse tells those to think his proposal is about controlling illegal immigration to quote get a life. The chair of Forsyth's County Commission says he's simply concerned about the quality of life for county residents. The Commission has asked the county attorney and health department to take a look at its proposed residential occupancy ordinance. They want a plan that adequately addresses community concerns, including crowded single family homes, overgrown yards and abandoned cars.

Forsyth County is the latest to attempt a limit on residential occupancy. Earlier this summer, Cobb County passed a law specifying how many adults may live in and how many cars can be parked outside of a house. No date yet on when Forsyth County will take another look at this issue.
