September is National Preparedness Month. Governor Sonny Perdue says for Georgians that means developing a family disaster plan in case of emergencies like a hurricane. Families should consider creating a disaster kit with a three-day supply of bottled water and non-perishable food, a battery-powered radio and flashlight, and first aid supplies. The Governor also encourages families to create plans for evacuating and reuniting. For more information visit the Georgia Emergency Management Agency’s website at www.gema.state.ga.us.
