An auto insurance bill that could lead to a rise in insurance rates is headed to Governor Perdue for his signature.
The original measure would give drivers an option to get additional coverage if they’re hit by drivers with little to no insurance.
The bill’s sponsor says it assures people get what they’re paying for in adequate coverage.
But the insurance commissioner says it takes away his office’s power to review rates before insurance companies raise them, which could leave customers vulnerable to unreasonable increases.
