Georgia sports for Monday, June 2nd

The Atlanta Braves wrapped up yet another disappointing road trip, winning only once in 6 games. Sunday in Cincinnati, the Reds completed a sweep of the Braves with a 6-2 win. Making matters worse was the exit of two pitchers to injury. Starting pitcher Tim Hudson had to leave the contest in the 7th inning with a strained left hamstring, and reliever Blaine Boyer followed soon after in the same inning with a knee problem. The Braves begin a homestand in Atlanta tonight, opening a series against the Florida Marlins.

From college baseball, rivals Georgia and Georgia Tech will meet once more today--the winner moves ahead to the Super Regional round of the NCAA baseball tournament. Yesterday, the Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 8-0 on Georgia’s home field in Athens, in one of the 16 regionals finishing play in the tournament’s opening weekend.
