Governor Sonney Perdue says he will not rule out a special session to deal with the state budget.
Revenues that fund state government have been down for 3 months in a row.
Perdue is asking state departments to cut their budgets in hopes of saving 1.6 billion dollars of expected shortfall this fiscal year.
Perdue says he doesn’t know yet whether a special session might be necessary to adjust the budget.
Perdue says there are signs that the economy is stabilizing in Georgia. He hopes to get through the year so that lawmakers can address shortfalls during the legislative session next January instead of a special session.
