Shooting at Savannah State

Authorities in south Georgia were still looking for a suspect this afternoon in a shooting at Savannah State University.

Campus officials say the shooting happened late this morning at a school residence hall. Early reports said one student was wounded and being treated at a local hospital. A school spokesperson did not know whether the suspect had been caught, or if another student was involved in the shooting. The campus was locked-down immediately following the shooting. Cars are being allowed to leave the campus, but not drive in.

City and county police, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been called in to help.

Savannah State is a historically black college on the south side of Savannah, along Georgia’s coast.
