Celebration to Mark USS Florida's Return

A homecoming ceremony will be held later today as the USS Florida is returning to its home port in Georgia after a 13-month deployment at sea. The Florida’s return to Kings Bay marks the massive 560-foot submarine's first deployment since the military converted it from a nuclear weapons carrier to a stealth weapon armed with conventional guided missiles. The ceremony will be held at Kings Bay Naval submarine base in coastal Camden County for the Florida’s more than three hundred sailors.
