Police impersonator nabbed in Savannah

A man who has been suspected as posing as a police officer in Acworth, has been arrested in Savannah. 46-year-old Stephen Benjamin Agati was taken into custody Wednesday. Authorities say Agati tried to pose as a police officer at a Savannah night club, and pulled out a weapon. Agati is in the Chatham County jail on a charge of impersonating an officer and weapons charges.

Police in Acworth had been looking for an impersonator after a woman said she had been pulled-over Monday by a man driving a red Hummer vehicle, flashing blue and green lights. The woman told police the man approached the car with a cane and handgun. She got suspicious, and drove to a nearby convenience store to call police, when she realized the man was not an officer.
