Georgia sports for Friday, February 8th

Georgia Bulldogs' guard Billy Humphrey has been suspended 3 games by the school following an arrest for underage drinking. Humphrey, a 20-year-old junior, will miss Georgia's game at Florida tomorrow, as well as a pair of games next week. Humphrey was stopped early Thursday morning after failing to recognize a traffic signal. In November, Humphrey had an incident where he was jailed for having an illegal-length knife in his dorm room.

Women's college basketball from last night included a win for the 24th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs--72-58 over Arkansas.

Pro hockey last night, the Atlanta Thrashers fell at home to the Vancouer Canucks 2-1.

Georgia sports for Thursday, November 29th

Men’s college basketball action from last night: Georgia at home in Athens knocked-off Delaware St, 58-47. Guard Billy Humphrey scored 18 points, all coming off 3-point baskets. The Bulldogs improved to 4-1 on the young season. Ga State won their game on the road at Jacksonville, 65-60. Leonard Mendez scored 23 points.

There is news with Atlanta’s new WNBA franchise. Marynell Meadors was introduced as its first head coach. The 64-year-old has been in the league since its inception--as a coach, general manager and scout. It followed a run of 30 years as a college coach.
