Tech employee investigated for misuse of grant money

Federal agents have searched the home of a former Georgia Tech employee who is accused of racking up more than $316,000 in personal charges on her state credit card.

Federal documents say Donna Gamble used grant money over five years from the National Science Foundation to buy more than 3,800 items including a personal watercraft and a wide-screen television.

Gamble has NOT been charged with a crime.

The search came amid increased scrutiny of the use of so-called p-cards and reports of misuse.

State workers use the charge cards to make work-related purchases and the bills are paid by the worker's agency.
