A nine-count indictment has been handed down by a Banks County grand jury against a former northeast Georgia district attorney and two others. The indictment alleges finanacial misuse by Tim Madison and the others relating to a victims' assistance fund.
Madison and his assistant prosecutor in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit are charged with theft by taking, theft by receiving stolen property, and violation of oath by public officer. Madison and his wife Linn are charged with making false statements and conspiracy--allegations that she was paid for hours she did not work for a victims assitance program.
Madison resigned June 4th as DA for the Piedmont Circuit, which serves Banks, Barrow and Jackson counties. Governor Sonny Perdue a week ago named Richard Bridgeman to replace Madison in the post.
