Stafford and Moreno leave UGA for Draft

Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno are leaving the University of Georgia for the NFL draft. Georgia coach Mark Richt joined the two at a news conference this afternoon. Stafford may be among the top two picks in the draft. Moreno had 1,400 yards rushing with 16 touchdowns this season to join Herschel Walker as the only players in school history with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

UGA football wraps season with bowl win

The Georgia Bulldogs wrapped their football season in victory--a 24-12 decision over the Michigan State Spartans in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando New Year's Day. The Bulldogs close their season with a 10-3 record. Georgia posted its 6th 10-win season in Mark Richt's 8 years as Bulldogs head coach.

Junior quarterback Matthew Stafford was named the game's MVP. He and redshirt sophmore running back Knowshon Moreno perhaps played their final game in a Georgia uniform. The standout players are considering leaving school early for the NFL Draft. Underclassmen have a January 15th deadline for a decision.

The Georgia Bulldogs celebrated in the end zone early and on the sideline late.

They probably should have hoisted Knowshon Moreno and Matthew Stafford on their shoulders for both.

Moreno ran for a career-high 188 yards and three scores, Stafford threw three touchdown passes and No. 20 Georgia upset ninth-ranked Florida 42-30 on Saturday in a game filled with big plays and momentum shifts.
