Restaurant owner defends against strip-search case
In the case of a northeast Georgia restaurant facing a lawsuit over allegations managers strip-searched black employees … the parent company says it’s done nothing wrong. The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has sued New Capital Dimensions of Millegeville, which owns the Krystal restaurant in Winder near Athens. The suit claims that in 2005 white managers forced three black employees to submit to strip searches to prove they hadn't stolen money from a cash register. The lawsuit says one employee never returned to work and that others were fired for complaining about racial profiling.

Georgia soldier's sergeant charged with murder
The former Army supervisor who ordered a Georgia soldier to kill an unarmed Iraqi will stand trial for pre-meditated murder. Sgt. 1st Class Trey Corrales is accused of shooting the man when his platoon raided a house last summer near Kirkuk. Corrales will also be tried for ordering a soldier in his platoon, Specialist Christopher Shore of Winder, Georgia, to shoot the Iraqi after Corrales shot him. Shore faces a murder charge but says he intentionally missed hitting the man because he was afraid of disobeying an order.

Georgia soldier faces murder charge
The Army has decided to charge a northeast Georgia soldier with murdering an Iraqi detainee. 25-year-old Christopher Shore of Winder faces a third degree murder charge. Shore and his platoon sergeant are accused of killing the detainee during a nighttime raid in a village near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk. Shore testified that his platoon sergeant ordered him to quote “finish” killing the Iraqi man, but that he intentionally missed and only fired because he was afraid of openly disobeying an order from the sergeant.

GA soldier to appear in court
The northeast Georgia soldier accused of killing of an Iraqi civilian will face a judge Thursday. The hearing could determine whether Specialist Christopher P. Shore – of Winder – will face a court martial. The Army says a sergeant shot the civilian himself, then ordered Shore to shoot the man again.
